Welcome to Altered States. A weekly playlist to help your weekend’s adventure get to the right destination. Featuring music left of center and slightly askew; ranging from post psychedelia, psybient, jam, ambient, hip hop, and world music. Whatever I’m listening to during the week that I feel might help you through life’s journey.
We’ve taken an extended break here at All Things Altered, but we’re back now and ready to provide the soundtrack to your journey. This week’s feature begins a new theme for Altered States. Less electronic and more soul.
This week’s trip launches with Ethiopian musician and arranger Mulatu Astatke. Born in Ethiopia, Mulatu was musically trained in London and in the United States where he combined jazz and Latin music with traditional Ethiopian music creating what he describes as “Ethio-jazz.
I post 2 play lists. This week’s list and the running main list. If you like what you hear, follow the running main list at the bottom. The weekly list gets deleted every week and fed into the running list. I am beginning a new Main List. We’ll call it Altered States Volume 2. I will still provide the link to the first one for a few weeks as the Volume 2 grows.
Main List to follow:
